Class 4 placards identify flammable solids and other reactive materials during transport, divided into three TDG categories:
- 4.1 Flammable Solids – materials that ignite easily through friction, heat, or sparks
- 4.2 Spontaneously Combustible – substances that can self-heat and ignite in air
- 4.3 Water-Reactive Substances – materials that emit flammable gases when in contact with water
